How stunning is this wall of doors by Dutch designer Piet Hein Eek for an Amsterdam residential project?

Eek (mentioned previously on Unconsumption here and here) covered the foyer’s walls with salvaged doors to “preserve the memory of the buildings that were torn down” to make way for residential development.

Grate idea du jour:
Combine salvaged cheese graters with LED lights or votive candles and display as a centerpiece or grouping on a side table.

Those of you who’ve been reading Unconsumption for a while might recall our 2010 post about Milan’s Maison Moschino — the boutique hotel the Italian fashion house Moschino opened in 2010 in a retrofitted 1840 railway station — where some guest rooms are furnished with ball gowns as headboards.
Turns out, the hotel offers additional Unconsumption-y design inspiration in the form of lamps made from dresses. (photo via DiarioDesign)
Related: For a review of the hotel, described “as a place for playful photo shoots,” among other things, check out this January 2011 writeup from The New York Times.

So pretty

Model - Fiona McDonald
Photographer - Martin Higgs
Make-Up - Me
Martin holds photography classes and Fiona was a model on one of the days, so we took a basis quick head shot so I could share the make-up with you all. Its a classic make-up look thats so simple to achieve.
For the liner, I used MAC Black Track Fluidline with a liner brush. I judged by eye to try match up the line on both eyes. For the lips, I used Hourglass cosmetics lipstick in ICON.
I’ll add some of the images from the shoot after this post.
